Sunshine Tahoe gifts Tour to Trails & Vistas!

It is with great excitement that we announce Sunshine Tahoe’s gift of Truckee’s Historical Haunted Tour to Trails & Vistas.

Given the Tour’s tremendous success – evidenced by increasing attendance every year, incredible support from passionate sponsors, $52,000+ raised in the last five years and fifty talented and dedicated volunteer guides and performers – Trails & Vistas is grateful for the opportunity to continue this popular event and very successful fundraiser.

Sunshine Tahoe is in the business of creating long lasting strategic partnerships between businesses and not-for-profit organizations. What began as a three-year experiment to celebrate historic gems while raising funds for worthy causes, the Tour quickly became a sensation by selling out and attracting a waitlist every year since inception (2009). Driven by a desire to achieve greatness and simply get things done, Sunshine Tahoe originally formed the Historical Haunted Tour as a way to give back to the community while educating residents and visitors through engaging oral histories and storytelling.

The outstanding experience that host sites, event sponsors and guests have come to expect from the Historical Haunted Tour will continue at the highest level. Sunshine Tahoe will remain involved as an advisor – helping with storylines, counseling at rehearsals and upholding the guest experience.

Trails & Vistas welcomes the Historical Haunted Tour to the organization’s collection of exceptional offerings. Funds raised from the Tour have made Trails & Vistas art in nature fieldtrips for third grade students possible. The Tour will continue to be an essential fundraising initiative for Trails & Vistas which is most well known for its signature September art hikes which have consistently sold out since inception (2004). The atmosphere keeps getting better!

The incredibly talented singer / songwriter Mason Frey has been playing music since the age of six and continues to expand and collaborate with different musicians. He's pursuing a Music Education Degree at the University of Nevada, Reno while regularly playing gigs. Mason has partnered with three others in Reno, the "Busking by Moonlite."
While Mason loves performing and writing music with many different people, he still performs by himself regularly, and you can hear him playing in the banquet room at Moody's during this year's Historical Haunted Tour!

Mason grew up in rural Nevada, and he moved to the biggest little city to raise hell. Mason understands the importance of an unforgettable live performance, and he seeks to melt young hearts and minds through the spirit of good ole fashioned rock and roll. C'mon down!

The atmosphere at Moody's Bistro Bar & Beats is always worthwhile during Truckee's Historical Haunted Tour - ticket-holder or not! The raffle is open to all guests and we encourage you to enjoy Moody's spirited hospitality.
PLUS, if we have no-shows (inevitable!), we will place you on a tour. Just give the Tour ticket table your name and contact information on Thursday or Friday and while you mingle on site, a space may open up for the evening - no guarantees but worth a shot!

An evening of wicked fun - help us spread the word!
Truckee's 2014 Historical Haunted Tour - different from every previous year with new stories and fabulous new acting talent plus past favorites - will take approximately two hours. And, it is true, we entertain and delight! You'll LOVE it regardless of weather, but think you'll agree the forecasted clouds will add just the right touch to our pre-Halloween festivities!

Streets of Truckee are singing!

“What I want people to know about my music is how keeping the overlooked rich and very short early history of Truckee alive is necessary. The names of developments and streets are all around Truckee, but the stories disappear just like the towns and building that burned down. We are elated that musician Richard Blair is part of the 2014 Historical Haunted Tour in Truckee! He’s come out with even more new music about old Truckee.

Blair has an uncanny talent for sharing Truckee's history via song. His newest CD "Truckee Roots" was inspired by the stories from the first CD, "Streets of Truckee," which was more about places and people. Truckee Roots is generally about their journeys. Blair is from Truckee and records at his local studio (Russell Valley Recording) using acoustic guitars he built locally (Sierra Guitar) so he and his music are truly, as he puts it, "Truckee Home Grown."

When asked about his creative process, Blair explains, “I was always interested in Truckee history. Didn't study it, but generally interesting stuff! I have done other CDs and started introducing songs about Truckee into my live shows. People loved them. As a singer/songwriter, I was having writers block and all of a sudden I realized there was a wealth of stories to write about just staring me. It just snowballed. The more Truckee songs I wrote, the more interesting the history became and audiences loved the songs. I realized it was not only great stories to write about, it was important, gratifying and fulfilling. I'm helping to keep the stories alive.” And, we think that – and Blair himself – are very cool!

Not so Haunted Night at the Museum

Book your Historical Haunted Tour date night for Friday, Oct. 17 and call the KidZone Museum at (530) 587-KIDS to reserve places for Not So Haunted Night at the Museum, a really fun night out with activities and a pizza dinner for ages 3 to 6.

Tour attendees receive a $5 discount on childcare for one child and the cost is an additional $10 per sibling.
